Rigoberto C., BronxWorks Participant

Rigoberto C. joined the BronxWorks program on April 1, 2019 after seeing our program flyer in his Twin Parks West building. He stopped by to inquire about our services and opportunities offered. Rigoberto’s interest stemmed after being laid off from his job as a construction laborer.

BronxWorks was able to point him toward an Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 30-Hour training. With the construction industry’s need for certified OSHA 30 workers, Rigoberto saw his opportunity for re-employment in the construction field. He completed the OSHA 30 training April 30, 2019.

Rigoberto’s employment background afforded him the opportunity to work in both the construction and maintenance fields. The BronxWorks program team kept in constant communication with Rigoberto as opportunities arose and more importantly to check on him during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. The team referred him to a maintenance opportunity with a local maintenance company. Rigoberto was selected by the company the same day of his interview and offered a full-time position as a maintenance technician earning $23 per hour. This was a significant wage improvement over his former employment.

With greater hopes for his future on the horizon, Rigoberto has a bright future ahead of him.
