Tahmina Akter speaks at a podium.

In the last two years, I have come across many clients who weren’t able to receive medical services due to their immigration status. A client I met expressed that his daughter is disabled and he also has a serious health condition. I was able to assist him and enrolled him for NYC Care. He received his first primary care appointment within two weeks and only paid $2 for medications. The client called me right after his doctor appointment and cried over the phone expressing how happy he was.”

-Tahmina Akter, Program Coordinator, NYC Care

Community Impact

In 2019 alone, we enrolled 4,320 people without insurance into a health plan.
