Eligible employees may select health insurance coverage from Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield. In- and out-of-network options are available. Separate dental plans are available under Cigna DHMO and PPO plans. Coverage begins 60 days after the first of the month following the date of hire.
All eligible employees receive life insurance coverage equivalent to one year’s salary. Insurance coverage begins on the first day of the month following the month in which the employee began work at BronxWorks.
Upon an eligible employee’s completion of one year of employment, BronxWorks begins to contribute to a pension plan with Lincoln Financial. Employees become fully vested in the pension plan on their 3rd anniversary.
- At 1-5 years of employment, BronxWorks contributes 4% of the employee’s salary
- At 5-10 years, BronxWorks contributes 7%
- After 10 years, BronxWorks contributes 10%
Employees can allocate the contributions into any of Lincoln Financial investment options. The pension money becomes available at age 55. Employees are automatically vested on their 55th birthday anytime after their first year.
Eligible employees may participate in our Tax Deferred Annuity Plan offered through Lincoln Financial which allow employees to defer federal income taxes as they accumulate money for their retirement through convenient biweekly pre-tax contributions. Employees can allocate the contributions into Lincoln’s investment options and can receive investment advice and retirement planning support from Lincoln Financial. Employees retain 100% of their contributions regardless of when they separate from BronxWorks. TDA’s may be activated at any time. The minimum employee contribution is $10 per paycheck and the maximum is determined each year by the IRS. TDA participants receive their money at age 59½.
Employees may use the commuter benefit program to have money taken out of their paychecks pre-tax to pay for mass-transit or parking expenses associated with their commute. Employees are issued a convenient debit card that can be used anywhere MasterCard is accepted to make transit purchases. Parking expenses can be reimbursed if credit cards are not accepted. Maximum contributions are determined by the IRS.
