In 2020, the COVID-19 Outbreak canceled many events, including the annual BronxWorks Staff Meeting, where multiple staff members are awarded for their years of service. In June of 2020, BronxWorks honored staff celebrating 25 and 20 years of service to the organization.

Joseph E. Smith III, Case Manager, Comprehensive Services for Immigrant Families

Joseph has worked at BronxWorks for the past 25 years. He is currently a Case Manager for Comprehensive Services for Immigrant Families at the BronxWorks Carolyn McLaughlin Community Center. During his tenure, Joseph was able to obtain his Master’s degree in Social Work from Hunter College.

Joseph is inspired by helping and working with families in his community.

When Joseph is not at BronxWorks, he enjoys photography, theatre, and film.

Maria Rivera, Department Director, Senior Services

Maria Rivera, Department Director of Senior Services has worked at BronxWorks for over 20 years. Her accomplishments have been recognized by the New York State Assembly, the NYC Public Advocate, and various City Council Members. Maria spearheaded the BronxWorks Morris Innovative Senior Center, the first of its kind in the Bronx. Maria is inspired by BronxWorks ability to provide numerous services to the community. She believes in the BronxWorks mission and the work that the Agency does. Maria’s personal passion is dancing and she often shares that at senior events and celebrations.

Kimberly Haynes, Program Coordinator, Children and Youth Department

Kimberly Haynes, Program Coordinator, Children and Youth Department also celebrates 20 years with BronxWorks. “What has kept me at BronxWorks so many years is BronxWorks continual support of the families in this community. Over the years I have seen this community change ethnically and culturally. BronxWorks has never waived in their mission to feed, shelter, teach, and support.” Kimberly says of her tenure at BronxWorks. For fun, Kimberly enjoys reading autobiographies and double dutch jump rope.
