New York City issues a Code Blue Weather Emergency when the temperature drops to 32°F or less between 4pm and 8am. Should you see a homeless individual out in the cold, please call 311 and an outreach team will be dispatched to offer assistance. Learn more here.

BronxWorks offers outreach, workshops, and one-on-one counseling to educate people about health insurance matters. We also help people enroll in free or low-cost health care programs.

FE-ABD Program

The Facilitated Enrollment for the Aged, Blind, and Disabled Program (FE-ABD) program is a New York State-sponsored public health insurance program for people who are aged, blind, or disabled.

BronxWorks program staff educate and assist New Yorkers with enrolling in and using public health insurance programs such as:

  • Medicaid
  • Medicaid Excess Income Program
  • Medicaid buy-in program for working people with a disability
  • Medicare Savings Program (MSP)

The BronxWorks FE-ABD Program offers private, one-on-one counseling about public health insurance options both at our offices and at your home if needed. The program also offers:

  • assistance with Medicaid and MSP applications, re-certifications, and eligibility guidance
  • assistance in completing other benefits applications
  • education sessions for consumers, caregivers, and other service providers
  • provides ongoing support to ensure continuity of benefits

 

Community Impact

In 2023, BronxWorks facilitated the successful enrollment of 6,597 Bronx residents into health insurance.
