When temperatures drop below freezing, the New York City Department of Homeless Services issues a Code Blue. Should you see anyone at risk, especially a homeless individual, please call 311. The BronxWorks Homeless Outreach Team will be dispatched to offer assistance.
Steven H., a rising senior at the Aaron School in Manhattan, returned to BronxWorks this summer for his Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) internship.
Steven works with the BronxWorks Community Health Department. “I am a community service helper,” he says. “I mostly work at the farm stand and do activities with the older adults. I really enjoy coming and working with the Saturday program too.”

Steven, a Bronx resident, joined the BronxWorks SYEP program last summer. He was thrilled to come back to BronxWorks in 2025. “The staff here are really nice. They keep me accountable and make sure I’m getting my work done,” he says. “I wanted to fix any mistakes I made last year and do better.”
Ailsha Sepulveda, Program Coordinator for BronxWorks Community Health Programs, was elated to have Steven back on her team. “Steven is dedicated to growing his professional profile. His dedication has been felt throughout the two years he has been with us. He is kind, quirky and a team player!”

“I can see myself doing this type of work as an adult,” says Steven. “I’m giving back to the community, and it’s nice to know there’s something positive going on in this city.” During his downtime, Steven really likes to be creative, especially enjoying using his iPad to create and play video games like football and Roblox.
