The BronxWorks 2025 Year-End Appeal

A green button that says "View Our Holiday Wishlist"

A purple oblong shape. There is white text that reads "Purchase Emergency Needs"

Please consider donating to our Year-End Appeal, supporting transformative programs for Bronx youth.

BronxWorks offers a breadth of services to support our neighbors in all facets of life, and many of our programs directly impact the borough’s youth. We strive to serve as a key resource for youth to break the cycle of generational poverty. Alongside early childhood learning centers, after-school programs, and summer camp, many other BronxWorks programs directly serve children and families with critical needs. We offer youth workforce and career exploration opportunities. We help families acquire and maintain stable housing. We provide fresh food and educate youth on healthy eating habits. We support young adults as they apply to and attend college. BronxWorks is committed to uplifting the next generation and building brighter futures.

Meet some of our amazing participants:

Maribel C. and her family are experiencing food insecurity. Maribel and her husband struggle to afford food for their two children, ages 9 and 11, since Maribel cannot work due to injury. A BronxWorks bi-weekly pantry provides her family fresh, healthy produce. “You can’t tell the kids we don’t have food today or we just have this kind of food every day, kids don’t understand.”

Karla Y. is a single mother of four. Karla and her children previously resided in a family shelter. Earlier this year, the family moved into permanent housing, and their own home has allowed the children to thrive. Karla is grateful for the continued support from BronxWorks programs during this transition. “My case manager helped me a lot, says Karla. “She helped me work on my GED…She gave me food when I didn’t have any…she gave me all the stuff for school for my four children. Oh my goodness, they were so happy.”

Taliah M. proudly shares that both of her children have attended the BronxWorks Early Childhood Learning Center. She credits BronxWorks for putting her now-14-year-old daughter on the path to academic success. “She learned to be independent. The foundation starts from here.” When her son Tyrel turned three last year, she knew exactly where she wanted to enroll him. Tyrel is now thriving at the BronxWorks ECLC.

Pedro C. and Quacey G. both attended the BronxWorks Center for Achieving Future Education Summer Bridge program in 2025, which prepares incoming college freshmen for their first year of college. At the program, they connected with BronxWorks college advisors who they have continued to meet with throughout their first semesters.

Pedro, who is attending SUNY Buffalo State, credits BronxWorks with his early success, saying, “BronxWorks prepared me well for college, I felt so much more prepared to complete my studies, manage my time, and manage my free time as well.”

Quacey has adapted quickly to life at University of Mount Saint Vincent, saying, “BronxWorks did a really good job at helping with understanding what teachers would be like, understanding what the space would be like.” The BronxWorks Summer Bridge program also gave Quacey a chance to go on a full college tour at UMSV before his first day.

Lia A., a 5th grader, started at a BronxWorks after-school and summer camp program when she was in 1st grade and has enthusiastically participated in the program every year. Lia enjoys getting to do her homework alongside her friends, as well as dancing, singing, and playing in the gym. Her mother truly appreciates the BronxWorks program as, “It’s better for her to be in school, than be with me at my work or somewhere else.

Edrisa Kabba signed up for BronxWorks GED Prep classes in 2023. While attending these classes at BronxWorks, Edrisa began to volunteer at the weekly BronxWorks farm stand, and then joined the BronxWorks Community Health department staff. “The reason that I wanted to work here was, we help people, and I’m a person that loves to help people,” he said. Edrisa left BronxWorks in October 2025 with his GED completed and is now headed to college to study Culinary Science and Business.
