When temperatures drop below freezing, the New York City Department of Homeless Services calls a Code Blue. Should you see anyone at risk, especially a homeless individual, please call 311. The BronxWorks Homeless Outreach Team will be dispatched to offer assistance.

BronxWorks food pantries operate on a client-choice model, allowing individuals to select the items they prefer. Distribution is based on family size to ensure appropriate support. We are appointment-based, and all clients must call the hotline (646.596.1316) on the designated call day to schedule an appointment. Appointments are issued on a first-call, first-served basis. Please note that some sites have limited availability, so we strongly recommend calling early, as appointments fill up quickly. Click here for a full list of BronxWorks pantry sites.

The Carolyn McLaughlin Community Center (CMCC) Kitchen

The CMCC Kitchen produces more than 600 meals from scratch every day to support a variety of BronxWorks programs. The BronxWorks Children and Youth Programs receive these meals through the Child and Adult Care Food Program, a federally funded meal program that provides reimbursements for nutritious meals and snacks to eligible children and adults. The CMCC Kitchen includes local and regional produce from Greenmarket Co. and GrowNYC in all the meals we make.

CMCC Kitchen staff continued to work throughout the pandemic as essential programs such as BronxWorks homeless programs relied on the prepared meals to feed the hundreds of street homeless clients that depended on BronxWorks for shelter. The kitchen continues to improve the quality of food delivery within BronxWorks programs and will work with the kitchens in the BronxWorks Adult Homeless Services Department to develop new menus incorporating more fresh ingredients.

I am proud of our efforts throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, from the kitchen team that shows up every day to make hundreds of meals to feed the community and who have shown up throughout the pandemic without hesitation, to the Community Health team who acted quickly to get our programming online and accessible to everyone across the Bronx.”
