When temperatures drop below freezing, the New York City Department of Homeless Services calls a Code Blue. Should you see anyone at risk, especially a homeless individual, please call 311. The BronxWorks Homeless Outreach Team will be dispatched to offer assistance.

BronxWorks food pantries operate on a client-choice model, allowing individuals to select the items they prefer. Distribution is based on family size to ensure appropriate support. We are appointment-based, and all clients must call the hotline (646.596.1316) on the designated call day to schedule an appointment. Appointments are issued on a first-call, first-served basis. Please note that some sites have limited availability, so we strongly recommend calling early, as appointments fill up quickly. Click here for a full list of BronxWorks pantry sites.

Homebase

Homebase is the BronxWorks homelessness and shelter prevention program for residents in Bronx Service Areas 1 (ZIP codes 10451, 10452, 10454, 10455) and 5 (ZIP code 10456). The program helps individuals and families avoid the trauma of homelessness by resolving immediate problems and obstacles that could result in the loss of housing. Program services are crafted to meet the unique needs of each individual or family as well as the demands of maintaining a household.

HomeBase Locations

When you come to the Homebase office, you will be assigned a case manager who will coordinate all services. Some of these services will be provided directly through Homebase, and others will be provided by our community partners.

Services that are available to qualified households include:

  • Assistance with Household Repairs
  • Entitlements
  • Household budgeting skills
  • Landlord mediation
  • Legal services
  • Referrals (Childcare, Education, Mental Health, Substance Abuse Services, etc.)
  • Short-term financial assistance

If you do not live in ZIP codes 10451, 10452, 10454, 10455 or 10456, you may be able to get assistance through other eviction prevention programs.
