When temperatures drop below freezing, the New York City Department of Homeless Services calls a Code Blue. Should you see anyone at risk, especially a homeless individual, please call 311. The BronxWorks Homeless Outreach Team will be dispatched to offer assistance.

BronxWorks food pantries operate on a client-choice model, allowing individuals to select the items they prefer. Distribution is based on family size to ensure appropriate support. We are appointment-based, and all clients must call the hotline (646.596.1316) on the designated call day to schedule an appointment. Appointments are issued on a first-call, first-served basis. Please note that some sites have limited availability, so we strongly recommend calling early, as appointments fill up quickly. Click here for a full list of BronxWorks pantry sites.

Adult Protective Services

The BronxWorks Adult Protective Services (APS) program will provide assessment and case management services to referrals received from the NYC Human Resources Administration (HRA) meeting specific criteria.

Referrals must be 18 years of age and older and, due to mental and/or physical impairments, meet all three of the following criteria:

  • Unable to meet their essential needs for food, shelter, clothing, or medical care, secure entitlements due to them, or protect themselves from physical, sexual or emotional abuse; active, passive, or self-neglect; or financial exploitation.
  • In need of protection from actual or threatened harm, due to physical, sexual, or emotional abuse; active, passive, or self-neglect, or financial exploitation, or by hazardous conditions caused by the action or inaction of either themselves or other individuals.
  • Have no one available who is willing and able to assist them responsibly.

Case Management services will consist of homebound visits to the clients’ homes in order to perform assessments, develop service plans, and provide case management, referral, advocacy and financial management services to ensure that all needs of the adult at risk are met.

These services are provided regardless of income.

All referrals must come directly from HRA.
