When temperatures drop below freezing, the New York City Department of Homeless Services calls a Code Blue. Should you see anyone at risk, especially a homeless individual, please call 311. The BronxWorks Homeless Outreach Team will be dispatched to offer assistance.

BronxWorks food pantries operate on a client-choice model, allowing individuals to select the items they prefer. Distribution is based on family size to ensure appropriate support. We are appointment-based, and all clients must call the hotline (646.596.1316) on the designated call day to schedule an appointment. Appointments are issued on a first-call, first-served basis. Please note that some sites have limited availability, so we strongly recommend calling early, as appointments fill up quickly. Click here for a full list of BronxWorks pantry sites.

Housing Law Unit

The BronxWorks Legal Services Tenant Defense Program provides comprehensive, free legal assistance to low-income tenants, focusing on eviction prevention, preserving affordable housing, and ensuring economic stability for vulnerable populations.

All referrals must come directly from HRA and OCJ. Call 311 for housing help and referrals to our legal services.

Our services include representation in eviction proceedings, administrative hearings, and appellate courts; as well as engaging in impact litigation to strengthen tenant protections and address systemic housing issues. Since we began accepting cases for full representation in state court, we have made a meaningful and immediate impact by addressing housing crises and challenging systemic issues to secure stronger tenant protections.

Supported by a team of experienced, mid-level and junior attorneys and paralegals, the program is contracted to handle a certain number of housing matters annually. We are committed to meeting our target and expanding our impact.

At BronxWorks, we believe in the fundamental right to safe, stable, and affordable housing for all. Through our individual representation and systemic advocacy, we aim to provide resources to help ensure housing stability for tenants across the Bronx.

Community Impact

From October to December 2024, the BronxWorks Tenant Defense Program served over 370 individuals, safeguarding their housing and economic stability.
