A Code Blue Weather Emergency notice is issued when the temperature drops to 32 degrees Fahrenheit or less between 4pm and 8am, including National Weather Service calculations for wind chill values. No one who is homeless and seeking shelter in New York City during a Code Blue will be denied. Should you see a homeless individual out in the cold, please call 311 and an outreach team will be dispatched to offer assistance.

BronxWorks offers free help with preparing and submitting applications for various benefits to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. We can also assist with completing waivers for fees associated with some immigration applications. Additionally, we offer services for immigrants like English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes and citizenship classes.

English For Speakers Of Other Languages (ESOL) and Citizenship Classes

BronxWorks offers free ESOL classes. These classes provide English-language instruction to help non-native adult English speakers acquire sufficient language abilities to enhance the quality of their lives. Outcomes include entering the workforce, job training or post-secondary education, and improving current jobs, as well as becoming citizens and more productive, integrated community members.

BronxWorks Citizenship classes offer training and preparation for the American Citizenship test as well as providing assistance signing up for a naturalization interview and test.

Comprehensive Services for Immigrant Families

The BronxWorks Comprehensive Services for Immigrant Families program works with newly-arrived immigrant families with limited English ability.

In collaboration with a network of community-based providers, we ensure these families gain access to relevant services that will help them prosper and become self-sufficient while navigating the complex and multiple needs new immigrant families have.

Services are provided to families living in Community District 4, specifically in zip codes 10452 or 10456. The program connects families to services such as ESOL classes, housing aid, legal immigration services, childcare, and medical care. The program also provides workshops on different subjects such as education, immigration/legal, employment, financial literacy, health, wellness, and more.

Yes. If you qualify, we have paralegals and an immigration attorney at our 1130 Grand Concourse office ready to assist you with the application.

The BronxWorks Benefits Access and Assistance program can screen you to see what government benefits you are eligible for and help you apply.

Do you charge fees for your services?
