The BronxWorks Seniors Homelessness Prevention Project (SHPP) is a unique and much-needed eviction prevention program based in the Bronx County Housing Court. Since 2014, the program has helped prevent over 400 seniors from becoming homeless, many of whom are immigrants with limited English proficiency.
But SHPP is running out of funding. We need your support to keep this program alive!
SHPP will shut down in June unless we can secure $250,000. Without this program, low-income Bronx seniors are at greater risk of eviction. SHPP is the only program that provides comprehensive services that address both immediate eviction risk and the underlying causes of each client’s housing issues to prevent future homelessness. Seniors can live comfortably in their homes knowing they will not face eviction because of support from SHPP.
Your contribution will allow us to continue to serve vulnerable seniors in the Bronx.
"The BronxWorks Senior Homelessness Prevention Project is essential. It's important to the court that we have somewhere to refer our seniors who need help. If we didn’t have BronxWorks SHPP, we don’t know what would happen to our senior litigants." — Judge Miriam Breier, Supervising Judge at Bronx Housing Court.
