On May 8, the BronxWorks Community Center’s after-school program joined hundreds of parents and children at a march and rally at the Bronx County Courthouse.  The crowd protested Mayor Bloomberg’s proposed large budget cuts to after-school programs.

If the cuts go through, thousands of Bronx children would lose their educational after-school programs and Bronx working families would lose the child care they rely on.

The Mayor and City Council have until June 30 to work out the final version of the budget.

The rally was sponsored by BronxWorks, New Settlement Apartments, WHEDco, United Neighborhood Houses, and the Neighborhood and Family Services Coalition.
