BronxWorks offers a variety of benefits to full-time salaried employees as well as part-time salaried employees who work at least 20 hours per week year-round:
Holidays – BronxWorks has designated 12 paid holidays.
Sick leave – Full-time employees are entitled to up to 12 days of sick leave in case of the employee’s illness. Part-time salaried employees who work at least 20 hours per week earn sick leave on a prorated basis.
Annual leave – Full-time employees are entitled to up to 15 days of annual leave. Full-time employees who have worked with the agency for over 5 years are entitled to up to 20 days of annual leave. Up to four days each year may be considered personal days, which may be used for non-medical emergencies. Salaried employees who work 20 hours or more per week accrue annual leave on a prorated basis, based on the number of hours worked per week.
Health insurance coverage (70-75% employer paid) – Eligible employees may select health insurance coverage from HIP/Emblem Health. Both HMO and out-of-network options are available, as well as vision care coverage. Separate dental plans are available under Aetna U.S. Healthcare. Coverage begins 60 days after the first of the month following the date of hire.
Life insurance coverage (100% employer paid) – All eligible employees receive life insurance coverage equivalent to one year’s salary. Insurance coverage begins on the first day of the month following the month in which the employee began work at BronxWorks.
Pension Plan (100% employer paid) – Upon an eligible employee’s completion of one year of employment, BronxWorks begins to contribute to a pension plan with Mutual of America Life Insurance Company. Employees become fully vested in the pension plan on their 3rd anniversary.
Employees can allocate the contributions into any of Mutual of America’s 27 investment options or an interest accumulation account. The pension money becomes available at age 55. Employees are automatically vested on their 55th birthday anytime after their first year.
Tax Deferred Annuity Plan – Eligible employees may participate in one of two Tax Deferred Annuity Plans: one with Mutual of America or another similar plan with MassMututal. Both plans allow employees to defer federal income taxes as they accumulate money for their retirement through convenient biweekly pre-tax contributions. Employees can allocate the contributions into about 27 investment options or an interest accumulation account and can receive investment advice and retirement planning support from either Mutual of America, MassMutual, or employees may participate in both plans. Employees retain 100% of their contributions regardless of when they separate from BronxWorks. TDA’s may be activated at any time. The minimum employee contribution is $10 per paycheck and the maximum is $15,550 per year. TDA participants receive their money at age 59½.
Retirement Planning – BronxWorks helps employees maximize the pension plan and Tax Deferred Annuity plans to prepare for retirement. We offer quarterly presentations from Mutual of America and MassMututal as well as other workshops designed to increase financial literacy and investment savvy.
TransitChek – Employees may use TransitChek to have money taken out of their pretax salaries to pay for their public transportation commute. TransitChek users pay less taxes and receive a convenient unlimited ride Metrocard that does not need to be refilled each month. It is possible for employees to share this benefit with family members.
Employee Assistance Program – BronxWorks has an Employee Assistance Program, a free and confidential assessment, counseling, and referral service, to assist employees and their families with a wide range of personal problems. The EAP is an independent firm staffed by professional counselors who are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
